When we finally made it to Cali, we ate a yummy dinner, toured the new house, and played at the park near her house. The next day we took the kids so a friends house for a water-slide party. After swimming we headed to the park for some lunch and then back to the house.
On the 4th, Independence day, we jam-packed tons of activities in. We walked over to the church for a yummy pancake breakfast bar and to play water games with the ward. Afterwards we ate a quick lunch and then headed to the Ronald Regan Library for some fun activities. First, the kids got their faces painted.
Then we made several crafts and played some carnival games.
We also participated in a water baloon toss competition.

We also got to be in a water balloon fight with all the extra balloons.
On the way home we picked up some stuff up for a picnic lunch and went back over to the church to eat and play outside until it was time for the fireworks.
Right before the firework show was to begin we pulled out glow sticks for the kids to play with. While I was cracking them and fixing them together one of the glow sticks cracked and shot liquid right into my eye. It was really painful and I started to freak out. Ashley and Ryan were not near me so I quickly grabbed my water bottle to rinse my eye out. I was definitely struggling and thankfully one of the ward members came to my rescue and helped me to rinse out my eye since trying to do it myself was not working all that well. My eye still stung but I was able to rinse it out enough that I could see out of it again. (After waking up in the morning my eye was back to normal.)
Last year there was a malfunction during the firework show in Simi Valley where all the fireworks went off at once creating a big explosion and injuring several people. This year the CEO of the firework company came to oversee the show. The fireworks went off for nearly a half hour and the finale was so amazing that my sister and I just looked at each other nearly laughing because we couldn't believe what we were seeing. It was amazing!
Riley loved watching the fireworks but they
were a little loud so she plugged her ears.
On Saturday we spent the day at Heavens Beach. The water was warm and the kids played in it and in the sand for hours. Riley did not like the water and didn't really like the sand at first. It took her a long while to finally want to play in it.
On Sunday we went to church and had a quiet day at the house. In the evening we ate dinner at a park in Agoura Hills while being serenaded by the King! We also stayed for the fireworks.
Riley loves music and it was so fun to watch her dance to the music.
We had a really great time in Cali, we always do. Plus it's so much more fun to celebrate holidays with family. Thanks Ash and Ryan for a great weekend. Love you and miss you!
