We Bought a House

I can't believe it! We are really making ourselves permanent residents of Henderson! We really do love loving here in Nevada and we can't wait to move into our own place; too bad we won't be doing that until the end of next month. Our new house was a short sale and is in desperate need of a complete overhaul. Literally everything on the inside it changing in one way or another. Does anyone know what these two pictures have in common?

Well, in the first picture I was 7 month pregnant with Carter and 4 weeks pregnant with baby #3 in the second. At the time the second picture was taken I did not know I was pregnant, but found out about a week later. We are super excited and can't wait to meet our newest addition around Valentines Day next year!

First Annual Henrie Family Reunion

This year Kam's parents decided it was time to do something more to bring the family together. In the past we would all get together for dinner one Sunday a month, but with 2 families now living out-of-state that doesn't happen often. So...the K Henrie Family Reunion was born. This year we kept everything low key by gathering at Mom and Dad's for fun and games for a few days.  

Our first evening together we had family dinner and then attempted to take a family photo. I think it turned out pretty good considering we had to use a tripod and a timer. Now if only I would have taken Carter to the bathroom before hand it would have been perfect.

On Monday the fun really began and didn't stop until everyone had to leave on Wednesday morning. Each day we started by eating breakfast together and then we did everything we could to wear ourselves out!

We colored...

hoola-hooped...

ate lots of popsicles...

participated in a relay race...

played games...

ate more treats...

roasted marshmallows for s'mores 

(way to go Konnie on finding a way to get our coals hot)...

swung on the swing (trying to knock over Uncle Kollin)...

played life size Angry Birds...

decorated t-shirts...

dug for treasure in the saw dust...

went to the park...

and did so many more things that I didn't get pictures of....

Guy time at the movies and then target shooting...

Eating lots of really good food and more treats than really should have been allowed...

watching a movie outside with the kids...

and did I mention that most of us were SICK the entire time?

Regardless, it was the best few days ever and I'm sure I can speak for the lot of us in saying that we can't wait until next year to do it all again! We are so blessed to have such a wonderful, supportive family, who truly love each other very much!

the River

One of the things I look forward to most every year is camping at the river with the Augers. This year was extra special not only because I missed last year, but because my sister, Ashley and her girls were able to come! And as much as I missed not having Kam there for most of it and Ryan not at all, I relished the time with my sister's and brother's.

When we first arrived it was raining and a bit cold so we did our best to get a fire going to keep the kids warm while we set up camp.

After camp was set up we took the kids into town so Megan could find a jacket...she forgot hers.

 

Kris and Gary enjoyed a quick run down the river after dinner. It was cold...they were crazy.

Fortunately the rest of the trip was nice and warm. 

These boys loved sleeping in the tent with Grammy.

The kids played lots of cards and games with each other.

This girl loved the doggies.

These crazies...well, they're crazy.

We all loved playing in the water.

And of course we floated the river! Carter went down the river once with me and then I tried to get Braden to go. He was not going to have it. But, being the way awesome mom that I am, I dragged him out with me kicking and screaming. He cried and complained for most of the float, but by the end couldn't wait to do it again...and he did!

I'm so glad I didn't miss out again on this family tradition. We had so much fun with everyone. Also, thanks Ash, for keeping me warm!

Happy Independence Day

The fourth was really fun this year. We began our celebration by joining the Auger's on the 3rd for the annual BBQ at Uncle Brad's and Fireworks at Eaglewood. Then the next morning we got up and headed to West Bountiful for a parade. Kris was on traffic duty so we found a spot right near him to watch both the parade and the officer at work.

The kids were naughty so we had Kris take them away.

Luckily we got them back with no fines and just in time to play at the park.

and made balloon animals with the clowns.

We also got to watch two helicopters land and tour them as well.

After our park adventures we headed for a little Cafe Rio for lunch and then home for a good nap.

Then we met up with the Johnsen's for the annual 4th of July BBQ, this time hosted at my aunt Nan's house. (Thanks for the YUMMY food.)

After dinner we played Red-Rover...

 and wrestled.

I especially loved getting to chat with this wonderful woman!

We were all having so much fun together that we decided to keep the fun going by getting some fireworks and shooting them off at Megan's house.

Braden was super excited to help light the fireworks. 

I love celebrating holidays, and I especially love celebrating them with my family. This year was really special to me because I got to spend the day with my siblings, something that hasn't happened for a long time.
