Yesterday, Sunday, Church was Cancelled! Yup, you heard me, cancelled. We had our first Sheet Ice Experience here in PA. It doesn't snow much here, but it rains and gets really cold, the result, ICE! Kameron had an early church meeting so we all got ready and went together early to church. We were all in the car, started backing out and then on our way down the hill and we didn't go very far before we started sliding down. We slid all the way down and somehow made it to the highway where we slid a little more. It wasn't long after we left that we got the call that Church was cancelled so we drove to where we could turn around and while we were turning we started to slide some more. This time we kept going and drove up and around the side of a hill! I swear we were going to roll the car, and seriously it was like someone was holding us upright until we made it back down to the bottom again. We were very blessed to not have been in an accident that morning.
After safely making it home, we decided to have our own little church meeting. We said a prayer, sang a song and I shared the lesson. We talked about Jesus' birth and all the blessings that our Father in Heaven has given to us. It was a great little Sunday (FHE) meeting. Afterwards we made some hot chocolate and caramel popcorn to share as a treat and it wasn't long that Carter grabbed a mug and spilled hot chocolate all over the carpet. I turned to Kameron as we were cleaning up the mess and said, "you know these things come in three's." Well, the third thing happened. Braden shoved a popcorn kernel up his nose! I was sure after a few attempts to get it out that we were gonna have to take him to the hospital, but we finally got Braden to blow it out. The rest of the day was much better and not so eventful.
I am just so grateful for little blessings that we can see each day. We truly are a blessed people!
